Whats been your Game of the Year?

Ignoring the "official" polls and the confusion that surrounds what constitutes a year for these polls (Call of Duty 4 being named game of 2008 when it was released in 2007 etc) what has been your Game of the Year and what are the other contenders? Anything released since January please
For me it hard to look past Gear of War 2. They have improved on every area and created a truly immersive story.
I enjoyed GTA4 but found I just didn't get into it as easily as the others in the series. FIFA is FIFA 08 with a few extras so no dramatic changes there.

Yeah, Gears of War 2 is up there and to be honest the only games I have played to death over the year are Gears, Gears 2 and COD4. I did also enjoy Pure.

Just from the demo's I think Left 4 Dead and Mirrors edge will be in the running. The latter looking awesome but not really my kind of thing.

For pure "newness"? As in.. never seen anything like it before,

Mirror's Edge.

For Bigger, Better, jaw dropping play..

I love Burnout and Fifa for tempting me away from Pro Evo which I have been buying since ISS 64.

However my game of the year has to be GTA 4, I have logged a lot more time that I would have thought and unlike the last couple I bought I an enjoying this one much more.

Haven't played Fallout 3 yet as I've got that for Xmas and expect that might be my favourite.

From what I have played I'd say GTA 4, Fable 2 and Gears 2, couldn't really choose a favourite out of those

Dunno really. Thought Dead Space was good. Thought GoW2 was more of the same in all honesty.

DeadSpace is a great game
and a nice return to real gaming from EA

Well not really a console guy although i did splash out on a wii and the wii fit is extraordinary, on pc its football manager 08 and civ 4 for me, boring but hey ho
