Xbox 360 Wireless Controller

Mostly Harmless

I'm interested to know how the wireless controller is working and how it works in terms of charging it and how long the charge lasts for. Also, is there any problems in game play in terms of time lag when buttons are pressed etc. Apart from having to charge it are there any other differences to the wired controller?

Thanks.

Wireless controller works briliiantly.

no time lag - or at least not that is humanely possible to recognise - though maybe i should use it as an excuse for my poor abilty to get round corners in PGR3

The new 360 controller generally (whether wired or wireless) is exceptionally comfortable and very natural to use.

Wireless controller can use AA batteries - it comes with 2 which lasted me about 10 hours of gameplay.

The rechargeable battery that is available at extra cost (approx £12 battery alone - £15 with the charging cable - you'll need at least one with the charging cable) lasts arond 20 hours of gameplay.

Wireless controller is slightly heavier than wired controller but is way more convenient, no wires to get tangled or wires that don't reach to your sofa.

Thoroughly recommend the extra moolah for the wireless controllers.

I assume the 360 pad has rumble functions, which would account for the short life span?

The madkatz wireless pads ive got for the Xbox dont have the rumble function, but a decent set of batteries last for absolutely ages. One set lasted me pretty much start to finish GTA: SA, which is, obviously, a pretty long time!

And, yeah, wireless pads are the best. No lag and no spaghetti across the floor. You can also get more comfy too.

Thanks for the info. One last question though. How do you know when it needs to be charged? Do you get an indicator on the controller? If you do how long after the indicator comes on can you continue to use the controller before it dies?

Cheers again.

The rings around the magic button start to flash. You can also check how much life is in the battery by pressing the magic button. A little indicator appears in the top left corner.

Cheers
