Oh yes - no price yet though or whether this means a launch in the UK for the PS3 - somehow I doubt it but fingers crossed - hmm what colour white, silver or black?

That's definitely a Japan launch. We should have it by the end of the year, though.

Well for a spring launch that press release sure has a lot of vagaries in it still, the operating system hasn't been decided on, they haven't decided whether a hard drive should come bundled.
Not that it will stop me buying one, just seems that "spring" is a bit optimisitc if they haven't finalised some of the operating and package details. With all the problems the 360 has had with supplying consoles and accessories, surely Sony need to get a move on with manufacturing if they want to release in spring -ergo they need to decide what accessories are coming bundled. Especially releasing in Japan first - they'll sell truckloads of the things on the first day there.

Yup. We wont see a worldwide release on this baby. Japan will hoover up ever available unit, then it will be the USAs turn and then europe, the ginger stepchild of videogames, will mop up the dregs when the manufacturing process is stablised.
So spring 06 for japan, late summer/early autumn for America and after Christmas for us.
I will be shocked/delighted if it comes out sooner because ive pretty much decided to get one, but, after giving up waiting for the PSP and buying a foreign one, im not holding my breath.

I reckon it'll be just before Christmas for Europe. They'll have not enough stocks to meet demand, and there'll be a frenzy of people trying to get hold of one, same as has happened with the PS2 for the last two Christmas's.
I just bought a 2nd PS2 for the main TV downstairs a couple of weeks ago, as it was quite hard to find one, as lots of places were still out of stock after Christmas. Got a good deal at Argos of all places. PS2, Fifa 06 (for my son), and an extra controller for Ł109.
