Just got an xbox 360 premium- how to hook upto surround sound

Harmless

Hi,

Have just managed to get hold of an xbox 360 premium, have managed to hook up everything to the tv, etc but can't see how to hook it up to the surround sound. We have a jvc ths-66 and it has an optical output. Does the standard lead that comes with the premium not enable you to hook it up to the surround sound or do I need to buy another lead?

Cheers,

I don't know what lead the X360 comes with, but you probably need this if you have an HDTV

Otherwise, this is what you're looking for here

So is it still a cheap composite (3 strand AV - red, white and yellow) lead included in the box?

For shame.

my friend had this same problem and to solve it he stripped back the cable to isolate the sound lead (sorry this is so non technical). Once he had split it down he could attach it to the surround system and the telly and it worked fine.

If you have an optiocal cable then look on the video cable that comes out of the 360. There is a small squarish flap that opens for you to plug in an optical cable.

Otherwise you need to use the 2 phono portion of the cable that comes with 360.

In my opinion the cable that comes with it is rubbish as is a composite cable. We upgraded to an RGB cable as soon as we could lay our hands on one.

I use the Msoft RGB cable which has a socket for an optical cable.

Hey matthew66, cheers for the advice, the 1st lead which you have mentioned, i.e the HDTV one is the one which the xbox 360 premium comes with. Can't see which one is the digital output one though?

For once the premium pack comes with a good crack

On the hd lead that comes with the premium there is a socket for the optical lead- hook it up to your sound system and your done
