hi i have just become the owner of an xbox i was just wondering what games are good and which are the turkeys i will be buying the slightly older games like in the 2 for £30 deal on play or ex-rental from blockbuster or from secondhand shops i would like to avoid HALO/DESERT STORM first person shooters and long winded stratagy games just driving beat em ups and shoot em ups maybe the odd sports sim any help would be good thanks also i have 2 XBOX and 8 PS2 games for trade see the trading forum thanks matt

driving: rallisport challenge, moto gp, project gotham racing
beat'em ups: dead or alive 3 (only one that is cheap)
shoot'em ups: u may like phantom crash (2 for 30 @ game), some people like gun metal (i don't), max payne. dead to rights is coming to classics line, that is a good one to pick up.

I really didn't think I'd like Halo as fps games don't do it for me, but it truly is an amazing game, cannot recommend it highly enough.

I agree. If you have own an xbox you have to at least try halo. I am not a fan of fps games either but I think it is one of the most exciting adventures out there. It is a bit similar to metroid prime. My other favorite games are the sega ones like jet set radio future, gun valkyrie, sega gt, crazy taxi 3 and toe jam & earl III. All come highly recommended. Thats why I bought my xbox in the first place.

For driving u must play Sega GT - absolutely beautiful both visually and handling wise. U can probably pick up the Sega GT / Jet set radio double disc for around a tenner - excellent value for classy games.
Buffy and Enter the Matrix are great fun.
For shootemups u must have Panzer Dragoon Orta - again Sega being brilliant. Gun Valkyrie is another classy but taxing shootemup.
If ur a fan of 2d shootemups get the Final Burn emulator and the 40-50 roms. Especially recommended is Dodonpachi and Gigawing but there are many more fantastic 2d shootemups.

Oh yes, and Shaun Palmer(?) Wakeboarding Unleashed? Don't bother, in my VERY humble opinion... beautiful to look at but playability? Oh dear... swapped this for Burnout 2 today and haven't looked back since, what a game.
