Before I go back to Littlewoods and throw it at someone any idea's why this console wont play *anything* all it does it make a god awful noise like the laser is moving across the disk face but not reading anything? Having had problems with a handfull of PS2's from Gamestation and now Littlewoods im starting to think, why did I bother buying one of these ficking consoles?!?

Sorry dude, I know you've had problems with this. There is not much you can do, other than exchanging it. I've had my PS2 for ages, with no problems, and it's second hand at that.

But there seems to be a lot of people with your problem. Sony using cheap components?

Errrr... Sure you didn't try to install a mod chip and b0rk it ?!

Do you have 2 PS2's ? Last week you were asking about mod chips, and saying "The model number is SCPH -30003R (early model I think)." - presumably not an early model if you bought it a couple of weeks ago ?!

I know this doesn't help, but I can't believe the problems folk have.I'm on my 3rd PS2 ( keep selling them then missing them..) and I haven't had any problems.
My mate's got one of the very first in the country and his has been dead reliable for the past 3 or 4 years as well.
Weird.

write to Sony expressing your experience and you never know, miracles do happen. If you kept the receipts send them with the letter to show them proof of purchase. This is disgraceful!!

Heh probably a big thing by sony to make you buy more of the their consoles, never heard of consoles messing up so much since the arrivial of the playstation...

Then again they probably want it to mess up so you will buy this when it comes out hehehe playstation X...

wingZero21 got a very simular email today about this *new* designed PS2 http://special.reserve.co.uk/news/story.php?id=2646&af=ur290503 but if its gonna mess up as much as the other PS2's ive had they can poke it! "Errrr... Sure you didn't try to install a mod chip and b0rk it?!" OH no, not a chance after all the s*** with the other consoles id have been a bloody fool to chip it or have it chipped before the guarantee was up, just interested in mod chips at the time Winking So its go to go back, but where, to the place where I bought it or a Sony repair center? I kinda get the feeling I should stick to my Cube or buy another Xbox. Anyone got a postal address for Sony, I think they need a bollocking for selling such sub standard crap, Bumholes!

Cheers fella's

Mostly Harmless

I just traded in my gamecube for a playstation 2 from game and I am having problems too. First of all i don't think the machine is new as it has some scratches on it and the controller had dust in it and several scrapes also (i know i am picky!). The laser sounds like it is having problems reading the discs. Also it has cut out and froze quite alot too. It is almost two weeks old but I remember hearing that it is guaranteed for three months at game. i never seem to get anything new from that shop. Most of the games are shrink wrapped by themselves anyway. I should know I used to work there. The staff take the games home and them bring them back the next day and sell them on to the customers scratches and all!

This has goto go back Tuesday, the *only* way it will work now is with a couple of sharp taps on the case and it will fire up, other than that no chance ;-(
