Saw this at the weekend with the wife.
Lets talk 3d first. The wife said that the second half wasnt in 3d. I was thinking the same whilst watching it. The 3d is Flash-bang-wallop for the first hr - then its not as obvious as it isnt filmed to show off the 3d as much in the 2nd half. Its immersive by that point.

The story.
I have read too many pulp scifi novels (Edgar Rice Burroughs anyone). Its cribbed from all of them. All I can say is when Princess of Mars comes out (or John Carter of Mars) they will have a hard time telling everyone that there story came first and they didnt nick it from Avatar.

It looks great though.

How close is it to the scriptment I posted a few years ago? Did anyone read it all.

I disagree, I found the 3D to be just as impressive all the way through, possibly even more so during the final battle. Maybe there was some kind of fault at your screening?

To be honest, I thought the same. I just put it down to being so immersed in what was going on that I didn't notice it as much. This is why I don't care for 3D... if you make a good film that engages the audience, they will be immersed - there is no need for extra dimensions.

That said, the IMAX 3D experience sucked donkey balls so maybe the 3D is more impressive in REAL-D or Dolby 3D.

Cameron is accused of Plagurism. Again.

This is from the Guardian.

Also it is claimed that he plagurised another novel called Call Me Joe.

Cameron has admitted in the past in a Starlog interview, that he ripped off a couple of Outer Limits episodes (Demon with the Glass Hand, and Soldier), for his movie The Terminator. So this accusation really doesn’t surprise me.

Well went to see it last night - I thought it looked amazing - the wife simply said beautiful but too long!
I totally forgot about the 3D towards the end and kept trying to flick the ash from the tree off me Happy
When this comes out on Blu-Ray will they be able to release as 3D?

Yes, but you will need a new 3D capable TV, and a Bluray or DVD player capable of 3D movies (I believe the PS3 is ready to go, but other regular players are not - I may be wrong tho).

Very surprised to see this getting nine Oscar nominations, especially Best Picture. It looks great, but the story wasn't particularly great.

Maybe this year Best Picture is as literal as it sounds and they'll also go with a Best Story Oscar...
