Looks like I'm not gonna be able to get one. Fox have withdrawn it from sale. Here's an email I just got from Filmnight:

Dear Customer,

Fox Home Video has withdrawn the Buffy Box Set from general release and it will no longer be available. We apologize for any inconvenience caused, but this has been a decision made by Fox Home Video who is responsible for the UK release and distribution of the Buffy series. We apologize that we are therefore unable to fulfil your order, and will cancel the back order for this item. Please note your card has not been charged for this item.

Furthermore Fox have announced that they are withdrawing the release of the Buffy season 1-3 which was scheduled for release in January 2005.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards,

Filmnight Customer Services.

I'm absolutely gutted. Ebay prices are soaring now, no surprise there.

Bit strange that as my local WH Smith still have them for sale! More like they've sold out.

I saw it yesterday in HMV for £200. I didn't realise that it was a limited edition, I was putting off getting it from Choices Direct because I thought that the price would go down after Christmas. Sad

Just to update - I finally found a copy thanks to Virgin Megastores in Colchester! Standard RRP of £199.99, glad I didn't fork out for an overpriced secondhand one off eBay. Grinning

When I rang and reserved it I was told it was the only copy left, but on collection I noticed at least one more hidden in the cupboard behind the tills. If you're in the Essex area and looking for one, give them a ring!

Oh , and BTW, my number is 5100. Grinning

To everyone who bought it just recently, why did you wait so long to buy it?

I didn't even know it was out until a week ago. By then it had sold out everywhere and I'd almost given up hope of finding a copy. If I'd known about it earlier I would have pre-ordered it.

£250 in Virgin in Brum last week.

That's what decided me to run back to WHSmith and get their last copy.
Never thought I'd feel lucky to spend £170.

Well it was only released on the 22nd of last month, and if it hadn't been for all the Ebay sellers buying up dozens for profit it would probably still be available today.

Mind you, it never actually appeared in many shops, with FOX withdrawing it before it hit many shops, our local MVC for one.

Seem to remember FOX did exactly the same with the first two or three videos that were released of the X-FILES Season 1.

I would expect them to re-release this item again soon, athough it might be slightly different packaging, and most probably a higher price too.
