Hi
I'm sure I cannot be the only ordinary guy who finds the operating instructions for this recorder to be completely incomprehensible. I'm hoping someone has the patience and clarity to explain what I need to do to transfer programmes recorded on my Sky+ box onto disc. I seem to have two problems.
1) I thought I'd managed it directly, but then found I'd only recorded to the hard drive of the recorder.
2) Playing directly from the HDD it fills my 16:9 screen but when I copy to disc from HDD it jumps to 4:3.
Obviously what I'd like to do is copy in the right format directly from Sky+ to disc but, as I say, I find the operating instructions mystifying.
Grateful for any help.

I had a similar problem copying from my old NTL/Virgin box to Panasonic HDD/DVD Recorder. Recording play back fine for me on hard disc or dvd, but sister in law would moan if I lent them to her ther would be bars down the side.
I remember seeing threads on http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/ about ppl having same issue, it may be settings on the Sky+ box you need to change.

So sorry, can't help you myself, but if you google panasonic sky+ or panasonic V+ you should find other ppl with same problem and hopefuly a solution.

Thanks for your help. I think it's the documentation that's mainly at fault. I've never seen anything so complex and illogical with relevant bits cropping up all over the place. Why can't they have several straightforward sections like "If you want to do this - then do A, B & C". I expect they think they have. I've now managed to do what I set out to - I had probably missed out on one crucial step in the process when I tried before. I've also learnt that the 4:3 problem was due to the particular disc I was recording onto. I do wish my earlier DVD recorder hadn't given up the ghost.
