Has anyone else been to see this yet? I went Tuesday morning to a very quiet (how I like it) screen and really enjoyed it. It did seem to lack something that I couldn't put my finger on, not quite as good as SOTD or Hot Fuzz.
If you don't know the plot Simon Pegg and Nick Frost play 2 scifi geeks who go to ComicCon and then embark on a road trip taking in the UFO hotspots of America. Something happens and they end up helping out escaped Alien, Paul.
Lots of scifi movie references, mainly Star Wars, some ET, some Close Encounters, probably more that I didnt spot. Lots of chuckles including a few that other people in the screen didnt seem to get, not as many laugh out loud moments, but Paul's line in the fancy dress shop got the biggest laugh from everyone. Overall, an enjoyable film.
Yeah, saw it and thought it was great. Can't remember half of the references because there were so many, but the obvious ones are Star Wars (multiple), Star Trek (again, multiple), Jaws, Aliens, Close Encounters, Indiana Jones, Spaced, the old Wilhelm scream, tons more. Especially liked the music in the bar. I'd read some pretty negative stuff beforehand, so I was really happy that it turned out to be good. CGI was quite impressive as well.

We saw it this afternoon, missus said it took her a while to get into, but both really enjoyed it, I especially loved the bar bit as well ![]()
As you say, def one of those films would notice more jokes on repeated viewing, or being more of a geek/nerd
Missus said I missed out on some by not having see Starman.
I had heard Seth Rogan was a bad choice for Paul, but I think as that character he was spot on.
I think maybe some people who didn't like it, got confused and thought it was part of the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy, rather than "Nick and Simon's US Vacation".
Cornetto
I enjoyed it, but Seth Rogen is getting waaay too much attention, IMHO. On the face of it, anyone could have voiced the character, and his bored style actually took something away from the role
But overall a nice flick, loved the references (I spotted BTTF in there) a little predictable near the end tho.
Plus it really p***ed off the creationists, which is always a thumbs up from me

and Alien ref of course at the end...
I expected too much I think. Thought it was predictable in many places and didn't like SP's character either. Felt like it was extension in some parts of "Spaced" :S
Better in last third...
Ho hum.
I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had.
