Watched it tonight & it was one of the best films I've watched in the last 12 months. It is one of those films that after 2 hours you ask, where did the time go? If Colin Firth doesn't get an oscar, then it will be a crime. Geoffrey Rush should be in with a shout for an oscar.

I'm looking forward to catching this on DVD, as 0ne or two of my friends that are wealthy enough to go and see it at the cinema have given it rave reviews.
Going tomorrow - Orange Wednesday ![]()
Looking forward to it...
I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had.
My missus took a 92 year old to see it today, they both enjoyed it. The 92 yr old is quite with it, and was keen to see it as she remembers the events so was interested to see the story around what happend, said it is as she remembers.
Slightly off-topic but still relevant...I've often wondered if Edward VIII had stayed King, and not married Wallis Simpson, who would have taken the throne upon his death in 1972? Would it still have been Elizabeth II, or would there have been someone else above her in the line of succession?
It seems hard to imagine anyone other than Elizabeth II ruling over our country, but it was these events which led to her father unexpectedly being forced into the frontline, and I can totally understand both Mary's and Elizabeth's (the Queen's mother) lifelong resentment of "That Woman".
Edit: I can actually answer my own question, as I looked it up. Elizabeth II would still have been first in line to the throne if her Uncle, Edward VIII had kept the title of King until his death. This was because he did not have any children to supersede her, and her parents never had any boys. So she was still destined to become our Monarch, although possibly not until 1972, and her father would not have been King, but remained Prince Albert, or Bertie, till his dying day.
