Someone's been screencapping, and it doesn't look pretty, at least not from where I'm sitting.

They don't look too bad to me. I wonder if DNR isn't another one of these phantom things-for-obsessives-to-moan-about. I've been wondering if HD isn't a double-edged sword - you may be able to see the stubble on Bill Shatner's chin, but you'll also spot his toupee lace, the matte lines and the dodgy edges of the rubber makeups.

I guess it's Saavik's plastic face, and the Big E's contrast crazy deflector dish that are getting my goat.

I didn't go too far into it, but I thought the shot of the Enterprise looked immensely better.

That's more of a grading issue than DNR. I'd presume that the HD transfers have been signed off by creative elements (directors/ producers/ cinematographers) as the often-disputed Lowry Digital touch-ups of the Bond movies were.

I can't visit those forums on account of them being so ridiculously over the top about stuff like this (and coming from me that's something).

How black are the blacks?

Blacker than the 'pre-DNR' screen shots on that forum (which are very washed out), but you don't hear them mentioning that.

Digitalbits.com say it's not that bad and worth the upgrade.
