Film title help please

Competent

hi guys,iv been driving myself mad trying to remember the title of a film i saw years ago,think mid-late 80s

was about a woman renovating a house or appartment and hiring an architect,he built some sort of false walls in the house and he lived inside them and watched the woman,i think he used to come out via a swivel mirror in the bathroom

nope,michael keaton lived in the downstairs appartment in that,this guy actually built false walls and lived behind them whilst spying on the woman,but thanks anyway
