Just ordered one of these after seeing it on the Money Saving Export forums. I used Rpoints rather than quidco, I know rpoints will match anyone elses affiliate cashbacks.

States in the terms and conditions that if it's faulty and has to be replaced then replacement units may be refurbished (??!!). That HAS to be a highly dubious practice and almost certainly breaks consumer law? Weird. I'd also check out the HD ready bit as the ad doesn't carry the logo "HD READY". Not saying it isn't but they wouldn't be the first company to blur the edges on that one. Just because it has DVI doesn't mean it is, it also has to have HDCP to qualify. Just saying take care guys.

I've read in a number of reviews that its a HDCP DVI port, but to be fair, at this price if its not then I'll just use it as a PC monitor when Sky HD comes out and replace it with something else.

I think it is standard practise to ship refurbished units when you have a swap-out warranty, I don't think many manufacturers are going to ship brand new units every time a consumer has a problem. If the replacement is below spec then get it replaced again.

My understanding of the law is that, if the goods are faulty, you are entitled to cancel the contract, return the goods and receive a full refund including the reasonable cost of returning the goods. You do not have the right to demand a replacement, new or refurbished or a repair. However by accepting a replacement or repair you may negate your right for a refund.

I don't think it is 'HD READY' in terms of the Logo compliance, it is capable of HiDef display but I am sure it doesn't have HDCP. The other thing is the part where they describe the tuners "Dual analogue; SDTV & HD ready; PAL/SECAM TV Colour system". Analogue tuners for HD that really is a false claim.

As always caveat emptor. I just think it is a damn good telly for the money.

UPDATE:
Having just seen Hulksters post I have looked further. The US Dell site clearly states DVI-HDCP for the US W2600. I have also found several more reviews all of which do state HDCP. Wait and see. The PC Plus review made me smile, I am not overly confident in their technical assesments but to see the set priced at £1199 in January 2005 made me feel good. Try these:

We are looking to purchase the 19" LCD from Dell, should we be wary at all? For use in Kitchen for second Sky input and for PC monitor. Recommended?????
