Just had a horrible thought....I did the credit card expiry date from memory (because my wife had gone out with my wallet)...I'm just wondering whether I put the right date
Now thinking that I did actually put the wrong date...really really annoyed - since there's no way to check/change. D'oh!

Just got this:
Dear Customer,
We are writing in regards to your recent requested purchase for a Dimension desktop on the Dell UK webstore. The monitor option that you selected requires selection of a 17" LCD TV that you neglected to select. If you would like to add this option, simply reply to this e-mail with confirmation and we will add that to your order and continue processing. The cost of the LCD TV is £390.00 excluding VAT (£458.25 including VAT). Alternatively, you can choose to change your monitor selection to one of the many monitors available for purchase with our Dimension systems. The full list of monitor offerings and prices is available for you to view online.
We look forward to your response. Please note that we will be unable to continue processing your requested purchase if you fail to choose a monitor or LCD TV.
Many thanks,
Dell Internet Sales Team
Oh b*gger, I just got that too.
I'm thinking of replying politely and mentioning that I chose the "No Monitor" option that was available at the time of order i.e playing dumb...
I'm also tempted to mention that a friend of mine also chose "No Monitor" and his delivery date is confirmed; therefore hinted at a precedent being set.
I guess I'm out of luck really.
Neil
Edit.. here's my reply...desperate I know, but their email mentions nothing of their c*ck-up, so they are trying to fob me off.
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your email below, however I am quite sure you are mistaken.
I chose the Dell website because of the flexibility options available when specifying a new PC. Dell was recommended to me because of these features in choosing a PC.
I required a very basic PC, with no keyboard, mouse or monitor; using your website I carefully selected the specification I required, specifically choosing the "No Monitor" option that was available to me.
You may want to review your copy (of which I have kept screen copies) of my online order which will confirm what I have stated above.
On this basis, please proceed with my original order I have placed with yourselves in good faith, I do not require a monitor or keyboard/mouse. I have purchased many Dell products personally and through my work, and I am more than pleased with the products and service I have received, I hope this can continue.
Yours Faithfully,

well I have not had that email and I dident order it with office whoever asked about it before!
As the originator of this thread, I feel I should step in here and provide some clear and explicit advice on this issue to prevent this turning into a mass of pointless hypothesis.
For brevity, and to help me get this message around the necessary threads/forums without an inordinate amount of duplication of information, I've put my advice on my website.
I hope this will put this issue to rest for the majority of the readers of this thread and give those remaining something to think about.
all the best,
Reestit Mutton

Rees mate, that page is about a zillion times bigger than my browser page and makes it very difficult to read scrolling side to side all the time.
(soz, just thought you'd like to know)
And to everyone stiffed by Dell this time round
I feel for ya guys, 'cause I know you have the same goddamned feeling I did when I ordered that projector.
The only thing I can say, is do what I decided to do: never give them another shred of business if they can't honour the deals they enter into.
I know this time it was obvious you were breaching their system, but then the system should not be breachable in the first place, and those with actual ORDER confirmations....give them hell!
Hope those who have OC's get their PC's

You're not reading this on a mobile phone or PDA by any chance, are you? I can't imagine any sensible sized PC having a problem with my latest additions page as the table is designed to be a percentage of the width of the window, not an absolute width.
Of course, it could be an issue with the HTML that my editor writes not being properly understood by some browsers (I'm on old Mozilla ATM - can't upgrade without a major upgrade of core functionality on my PC that a lot of other things depend upon and I'm unwilling to go through the pain of following all teh dependencies just now).

Nope, and my PC is more than just reasonably sized ![]()
It's not the additions table, thats fine, it's when you click into the link it goes super wide!
As if it was missing the carriage returns or the page width thingy
(I aint too hot on HTML so I cant say what! Lol)

If I understand you correctly, I think it may be an issue with this site as the link doesn't take you directly to the relevant article within my page as it should (and invariably does, if pasted into your address bar or if it's posted on any site other than this one) - it mysteriously just leaves you at the top of my latest additions page.
Here's exactly the same link not dressed up in a fancy URL tag:

Nope mate, it's the articles themselves.
The links part of the table is absolutely fine, but when you scroll down to the articles, or click the link to drop, the text of the article is centre justified, and twice the width of my screen/browser.
(using a seperate IE window and thats the full width of my 19" monitor, resolution set to 1024x768)
