Oh well...I imagine that the 4600 loophole won't be around for much longer anyway.

See ya'
Off to watch 70s hall of fame now - I'll fall off my chair if both Queen and Abba aren't in this week's line up!

Hello again,

I've just had an order acknowledgement from Dell for this pc (£106); is this at all promising or standard practice?

From Dell's T&Cs "Orders may be received by writing, internet, telephone or fax but are only binding when accepted by Dell in a written Order Confirmation."

Hope I get lucky,

Neil.

you've had an email from Dell?
Not the "internet receipt" but an actual email confirming the purchase?

If you have, then you're gonna get a PC I believe, as that's how they got out of the projector deal ones.

Jimbo (and anyone else still wavering) -

I've just had another quick look at Dell (Queen & Abba have already been showcased on C4's "Hall of Fame" so my interest has waned) and amazingly, there's this deal on offer:

Dell Dimension 4700 e-value code: 305-d1049
2.8GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor with Hyperthreading
(800MHz FSB, 1MB cache)
1GB dual channel DDR2 400MHz memory
80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive with 8MB databusrt cache
48x CDRW optical drive
1 Year collect and return warranty
Windows XP included
monitor NOT included
TOTAL PRICE = only £234.95

Remember to use the monitor trick and the £40 off discount code.

For those who have jumped in at this point in the conversation, the instructions on how to get this price are in my OP atthe top of this thread - it's only the e-value code that you need to use that has changed here (305-D1049).

I know it's not £150 but it's also far from £300 and an absolute blinder of a price for the specification!!! (incidentally, you can swap the CDRW drive for a DVD/CDRW combo for an extra £35)

Yes Jimbo, an actual email titled "Dell Order Acknowledgement"

Anyone else got one?

"thankyou for your Order...we are delighted to have you as a customer" Hee hee this looks quite promising....or am I getting excited too early?

Neil.

Its an amusing quote & I assumed MAC users had a sense of humour like their Windows bretheren. Winking

If Mac users are "more intelligent than the average computer user," why do they need an operating system designed for complete idiots?

Had a look over on the RP Points forums and apparently a couple of others have had an acknowledgement email, but not an order number.
I think it's the one with the order number that kills Dell from being able to back out, so if yours has an order numberon it, happy days! Grinning

If it doesn't, then I got me fingers crossed for ya Neil, 'cause I really really hope that Dell honour these for you guys. I was sick as a parrot over the projector one, which I would never have ordered bar that.
(I actually had someone lined up that I was giving the PC to free, I only wanted the projector setup!!)

Maybe it's just me being grumpy having to honour stupid prices in store when you get a real whinger that's spotted two instances of a ticket or something, or they just can't read and stand and argue so long that whoever's in charge says "just do it".

Personally, I preferred my approach of giving the lower amounts to the people who were decent enough to not start complaining or screaming "we'll never shop here again" etc etc, and telling those who did scream like that where the nearest TS office was Grinning

Anways, I'm rambling. Fingers still crossed though!

I think possibly you are getting excited a bit too early. I also have that email, which only gives an IR (Internet Receipt) number not an Order Number. It also says

Quote:
Please note that this E-MAIL HAS BEEN GENERATED BY AN UNATTENDED APPLICATION

I think this is just an automated email generated by the order and is not yet any sort of confirmation that the order will be actioned.
Still , having said all that , here's hoping Happy
