Mostly Harmless

Hi all bought one of these hard drives. instruction say if the drive is above 35 gig you need to connect 2 jumper switches but they only supply one,and when i conect using the one jumper switch the drive only shows as 35 gig so do i need to get a second jumper switch for it.

cheers

No. Basically, the instructions on the little printed sheet are wrong - follow the instructions printed on the drive itself.

Harmless

I bought the Aldi Samsung drive but when I formatted the drive it only says it is 32Gig. I think the problem lies with the jumpers. I phoned the help line which was totally useless and confused me more. I am installing to an eMachine with a 80 Gig master drive and want the new drive as a slave. How do I do it? Please go easy and assume nothing.

Regards

Competent

If you are installing it under windows XP, you will only be able to format it up to 32 gig using FAT32 ... use the NTFS type file system instead and everything will be fine.

Sorry for adding to this very old thread but possibly the best place to help resolve this issue in one go.
