Well it looks like it will be one of four as there are four 160 GB models listed on the Samsung website unless it is an older discontinued drive

Would this be any harder to fit than other hard drives I have bought?
I'm concerned by the term 'internals' and the open photo on the website.
Is it not cased and ready to slot straight in?
Thanks in advance.
I'm surrounded by Breakdancing strippers!
Won't be any different to any other you have fitted. Just set the slave/master/cable select jumper and possibly limit the block size if your motherboard cannot handle a drive which is that big. Screw in place and plug in the leads.
The pictures which are shown are just for publicity purposes. All hard drive mechanical bits are sealed in a clean room during manufacture.
Bare drive means you don't get any instructions, IDE cables or overlay software (used if your BIOS cannot handle a disk of that size).
If the drives are 7200rpm 8mb cache then I'd be tempted. Slowly stockpiling bits for a new work machine. Pity they aren't SATA though
Just had a dekko...
It's a Sammy SP1604N 7200rpm but with only a 2MB cache
Still, as a backup device, it's a winner
3 year warranty too
Comes with a jumper (woo-hoo) and mounting screws (and a tiny instruction leaflet) all packaged inside a Gericom-badged box.
Fill yer boots!
(BTW my local had at least 50 units, (49 now
) so no need to rush, boys & girls!)

Hi, I'm a bit confused by this one. if i read correctly, this is a 160Gb hdd, 7200 rpm, 2mb cache, and i walk into the local aldi and walk out with one having paid 70 pounds. as a comparison i looked on ebuyer, there are a selection of 160gb hdd, 7200 rpm, 8Mb cache, eg hitachi, 61 quid including vat, maxtor 60 quid including vat, and shipping is 4.95 on them; what is it that makes this a "fill my boots" bargain? is samsumg a particularly well-regarded maker of these? thanks for any enlightenment anyone an throw on this
Not all people like to buy over the net as they may not have a credit card or like to get their hands on or see the product before they pay for it and not weeks later after waiting for it to be despatched and then knocked around by the delivery process and also going on others reports the 3 year warranty is worth a few quid as Aldi are pretty good on taking returns and giving refunds , will ebuyer give you your money back in 2 - 3 years time ?

Samsung drives tend to do well in reviews, they're said to be quiet and even 2MB cache ones are fast. See www.pcpro.co.uk for some reviews.
I've just bought one of the Sammy hard drives from the Howdon Aldi - they still had quite a few left when I went in. I'm very impressed with it so far: it's easily as fast as my 7200rpm Seagate 60GB (which also has 2MB cache), and it's noticeably quieter.
Samsung isn't exactly a "big name" when it comes to hard drives - but if this drive is owt to go by, they ought to be.
