Thanks for the advice in the last two posts, I have found them very useful. Unfortunately I have taken hundreds of snaps but I have had only FOUR that have been properly focused! I had done everything to stop camera shake etc but still its not quite right. Using 4 mpixels, waiting for red light to stop flashing and now got flash on lightbulb. What next?
On a more positive note, me and the kids (9&11) have had excellent fun with the camcorder part! It really is superb for the size of it and really, if I never use the camera for prints again, its staying for camcorder use alone! In fact, I may even get another for the other kid...

The camera worked excellently for a week on alkaline batteries.
It ate batteries, even by digital camera standards. So I have experimented with rechargbles.
The manual recommends 1.2v NiMh but only seems to work with a voltage above 1.35V
Devices like this should work down to 1V.
1.27 & 1.30 NiCd Does not work
1.32 & 1.33 NiMh Does not work
1.37 & 1.40 Nicd Works
1.43 & 1.43 Alkaline works

This is what I sent to Medion.

This camera does not fully use the batteries. Your manual recommends that NiMh batteries are used, but this does not give the stated 30 mins life. The camera only works at greater than 1.35 v in my testing. well short of the 1V that represents a battery at 90% empty. Is this a fault with my camera or a generic fault in the design?

Barry,

Have a look at my post at the bottom of this thread. There's been a recall of these cameras, so should be no problem getting your money back from Kwik Save, even without a receipt. Take a print of the recall notice (link in post) with you for proof. Happy

edit:
Actually, forget that, just noticed yours is a different model number, not the one they were selling at Xmas. That one isn't in the recall...sorry. Happy
