Lidl are having some computers and peripherals in from this Thursday. The Spec. on the base units with keyboard and mouse look pretty good at £649! Try this: AMD XP1800+, 256mb DDR Ram, Seagate 40Gb HD,56k Modem, Asus M/board (5 PCI slots -4 spare,1 AGP, 3 DIMM sockets), Game, Midi and Sound Sockets, Samsung 16 speed DVD, Asus 32x12x10 rewriter, 64Mb nvidia Geforce2 MX400 + TV out Graphics card (AGP), Cyberlink Power DVD with CMedia Dolby 5.1, Windows XP and Works Suite 2002. 2 Front USB ports, front microphone and front headphone sockets, and I believe 4 rear USB ports. 2 year warranty and 2 year Freephone service helpline.
There's a 19" monitor at £149 as well!!
Think it's time to upgrade! Winking

You should have been looking at Aldi 4 months back, they had a Pentium 4 with 70 gig HD. Plus every connection you could think of, digital camcorder in through fire wire..of which there are 3. Dolby digital out, network card fitted, as well as all the normal audio connections there is Digital in & out, it went on & on. SAME PRICE. Flat screen offered at £229-00....Look out for their next offer...it can only get better, I THINK.

Competent

I got an aldi machine, OK it's £50 more than the Lidal but the GE Force 3 Ti 200 compensates for that alone. Also as you say, it includes every type of connection and It's a full DV/analogue video editing PC including a tremendous software bundle.

I was and am still well chuffed!

Yes, I saw the Aldi one some months ago, but missed it. Anyway, after thinking about it for a day or so I decided to give the Lidl one a miss, as our video has started chewing tapes and we're also looking at 32" TV's. Was going to buy a Panasonic or Sony, but after seeing a Panasonic Plasma and being blown away by it's images, we may try a 'cheapie' box, as the price of Plasma's seem to be dropping by the month, and hopefully 18 months or so down the line we could go for one. Anyone else think that someone will bring one out at less than £1500, especially once the 'early adopters' have finished having their go at them!
